BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 19. Kazakhstan will build and reconstruct 10,500 kilometers of roads in 2023, Trend reports, citing the press service of the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructural Development.
According to him, building and reconstruction of 7,300 kilometers of major roads will be completed. Additionally, 3,200 kilometers of roads incorporated into the local network will be built and modernized.
Currently, the implementation of "Taldykorgan - Ust-Kamenogorsk", "Kalbatau - Maykapshagai", "Usharal - Dostyk" major road projects in the eastern regions of Kazakhstan is underway.
Finalization of the work on the 180 kilometer long Usharal-Dostyk section is expected to take place this year. For the remaining sections, it is planned to launch traffic on a new surface sometime in 2024.
Last year, Kazakhstan adopted a strategy for developing the country’s transport and logistics potential. The concept regulates the future growth of the industry. Currently, Kazakhstan has already started implementing railroad projects, including the construction of the second track of the Dostyk-Moyinti route.
