BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 26. Kazakhstan allocated 59.5 billion Kazakh tenge ($129.6) for the provision of targeted social assistance in 2022, Trend reports, citing the Central Communications Service under the President.

Some 728,700 people from 141,500 families received assistance during the previous year. Targeted social assistance is assigned to citizens whose average per capita income for each family member is below 70 percent of the regional subsistence minimum.

Additionally, Kazakhstan supplied 204,600 children, from families receiving targeted social assistance, were supplied with food products and household chemicals. The provision of assistance to the children is done in the framework of a guaranteed social package.

Meanwhile, the government agreed to provide the guaranteed social package in monetary form starting in 2023.

Earlier, Kazakhstan introduced measures to increase the coverage of the targeted social assistance program.

Targeted social assistance is a cash payment provided by the state to individuals with a monthly average per capita income below the poverty line established in regions, cities, and the capital, in the form of unconditional and conditional cash assistance.
