BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 15. Kazakhstan may increase the import of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) shipments from Russia in 2023, Trend reports referring to the latest review of Argus, an independent analytical company.
According to Argus, additional volumes may be delivered to industrial consumers.
An increase in imports from Russia will help avoid a shortage of LPG in the domestic market, which arises due to an increase in demand from municipal structures in particular.
In 2022, LPG imports by Kazakhstan amounted to 1,300 tons compared to 400 tons a year earlier. The entire volume of liquefied petroleum gas was supplied from Russia.
Overall, Argus analysts believe that Kazakhstan in 2023 will not only reduce the export of liquefied natural gas but increase its imports. Supply of additional LPG from abroad will be required to prevent shortages against the background of increased demand for fuel from large industrial consumers.
The decline in LPG export was also observed in 2022. Kazakhstan's LPG producers reduced the export by 33.2 percent in 2022 compared to 2021, to 1.12 million tons.
