Kazakhstan's QazaqGaz, China's CNPC to further collaboration in fields of natural gas and geological exploration

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 18. Kazakhstan's QazaqGaz national company and China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) signed an agreement on cooperation in the fields of natural gas and geological exploration, Trend reports via the press service of QazaqGaz.

The agreement was signed by the Chairman of the Board of QazaqGaz Sanzhar Zharkeshov and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of CNPC Dai Houliang as part of the state visit of Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to China.

The signed agreement will allow the companies to continue mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of natural gas supplies, as well as geological exploration. The document also lays the foundation for the start of construction of the second line of the Beineu-Bozoi-Shymkent gas pipeline.

The parties intend to sign a contract for the purchase and sale of natural gas, taking into account the resource base and capacity of the gas pipelines of the QazaqGaz national company. In addition, the companies will consider cooperation in the field of geological exploration in promising subsurface areas on the territory of Kazakhstan.

The companies also plan to exchange experience between scientific, technical, and research centers for the development of technological innovations in the gas industry.

On May 17, Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev left for a state visit to China. On the first day of his visit, which will last until May 19, a number of documents that envisage cooperation in various fields, including energy, were signed.
