BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 6. The total sown area reached 23.4 million hectares in Kazakhstan this year, exceeding the 2022 level by 68,600 hectares, including spring crop area of 20.9 million, Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan Yerbol Karashukeyev said at the meeting of the government, Trend reports.
Cereal crops were sown on 15.6 million hectares, while oilseeds covered 3.3 million hectares. Cotton occupied 111,400 hectares, and rice cultivation encompassed 97,300 hectares. The potato sowing is completed, with an expanded area of 197,500 hectares, reflecting an increase of 6,700 hectares. Additionally, the sugar beet area reached 19,000 hectares, surpassing the figure of the last year by 7,400 hectares.
To coordinate all matters related to spring fieldwork and support agricultural producers with seeds, agrochemicals, machinery, and financing, the Republican Operational Headquarters continues its operation.
Furthermore, efforts are currently underway to ensure affordable diesel fuel for farmers during the harvesting campaign. For the first time, the allocation and distribution of fuel is conducted electronically through the State Subsidy Information System.
Over 28,500 applications for 368,200 tons of fuel have already been submitted. The Ministry of Agriculture is compiling a comprehensive request, which will be forwarded to the Ministry of Energy to prepare a shipment schedule.
