ASTANA, Kazakhstan, October 23. Russian engineering holding PETON has won the tender for the construction of the Zhanaozen gas processing plant in Kazakhstan, Trend reports.

The project budget for the construction of a new gas processing plant is 148 billion tenge (about $308.7 million).

The plant was planned to be built and launched by the end of 2023, but the timing of its commissioning was postponed 2026.

Back in June 2021, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has called for speeding up the construction of the Zhanaozen gas processing plant.

Until the new plant is built, the only gas-producing plant in the Zhanaozen region is the Kazakh gas processing plant, built in 1973, which do not respond to the region's needs. The wear and tear of the equipment is about 90 percent, which threatens a complete shutdown of the plant and could lead to another fuel shortage in the region.

Technological engineering holding PETON provides domestic and foreign consumers with high-quality design products, high-tech equipment and comprehensive engineering services based on the EPC approach to the implementation of projects for the construction, modernization and reconstruction of large industrial facilities in the oil and gas production, oil and gas refining and petrochemical industries.
