ASTANA, Kazakhstan, November 14. Kazakhstan plans to implement construction of the Aktobe – Kostanay gas pipeline, Trend reports.
Intergas Central Asia JSC began developing a feasibility study for the project. Its completion is planned in the first quarter of 2024.
The project involves the construction of a gas pipeline with a length of more than 600 km and compressor stations.
The cost of the project will be determined based on the results of the development of a feasibility study.
As part of the development of a feasibility study, the possibilities of looping the projected gas pipeline with the Saryarka main gas pipeline will be studied to create a unified gas supply system.
This project is being implemented in order to further supply gas to the Kostanay region and provide gas to large industrial facilities.
Gas production volume for 2022 amounted to 53.3 billion cubic meters, or 103.1 percent of the 2022 plan. Commercial gas production amounted to 27.8 billion cubic meters, or 94 percent of the plan.
Domestic consumption of commercial gas in Kazakhstan amounted to 19.3 billion cubic meters, or 107.2 percent of the 2022 plan, exports - 4.6 billion cubic meters, or 85.1 percent of the plan.
The volume of liquefied petroleum gas production (supplied to the domestic market) amounted to 2.8 million tons, or 98 percent of the plan.
In general, at the end of 2022, the level of gas supply to Kazakhstan was 59 percent. 142 gas projects worth 96.1 billion tenge (about 201.4 million) were implemented in the regions, which made it possible to provide access to natural gas to 285,000 citizens in 107 rural settlements.
In 2023, it is planned to increase the share of gas supply to the population to 60 percent with the implementation of 86 projects for a total budget investment of 74 billion tenge (about $155.1 million).
This will provide gas supplies to, 167,000 citizens in 56 rural settlements. As a result, 11.4 million citizens of the republic will have access to gas.
