ASTANA, Kazakhstan, December 4. The total fleet of railway freight cars of Kazakhstan's Kaztemirtrans JSC (KTT) increased by 70 new domestic open wagons, Trend reports.
The wagons can carry up to 70 tons. They will be responsible for the transportation of coal, grain, and building materials.
KTT ordered 50 new locally manufactured open wagons on November 6. Kazakhstan Carriage Manufacturing Company in Ekibastuz produced the new carriages. The carrying capacity of railway freight wagons is 70 tons. The Customs Union standard has been certified for open wagons.
Kaztemirtrans JSC is gradually upgrading its freight car fleet. More than 25,000 railcars have been purchased in the last decade. It is expected to purchase around 3,000 extra freight cars by 2025.
From January through October 2023, the corporation transported 76.4 million tons of cargo using railway cars from its fleet.
To note, coal, construction materials (crushed stone), industrial raw materials, grain, and other commodities are the most common cargoes transported by KTT wagons.
