ASTANA, Kazakhstan, December 22. Kazakhstan will build gas processing plants at large fields, said Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov at the launch ceremony of the Rozhkovskoye field, Trend reports.

According to him, the expanding needs of the population and industry necessitate not only an increase in gas resources but also an increase in gas processing capacity.

Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has set a target of increasing commercial gas production to 30 billion cubic meters by 2030.

"In this regard, new gas processing plants will be built at the fields of Kashagan and Karachaganak, as well as in the city of Zhanaozen," Smailov went on to say.

The massive Rozhkovskoye gas condensate field in West Kazakhstan is now commercially operational.

The gas condensate field was discovered in 2008 as a result of a wide range of geological exploration work.

It is planned to produce 14.2 billion cubic meters of raw gas and 7.1 million tons of condensate until 2040.

The subsoil use right is held by a joint venture comprising KazMunayGas (50 percent), Hungarian company MOL Group (27.5 percent), and Chinese Sinopec (22.5 percent).

To date, $534 million has already been invested in the field.

Meanwhile, gas production volume in 2022 totaled 53.3 billion cubic meters, or 3.1 percent over the planned volume. Commercial gas output was 27.8 billion cubic meters, or 94 percent of the planned amount.

Domestic commercial gas consumption in Kazakhstan was 19.3 billion cubic meters, or 7.2 percent exceeding the 2022 plan, while exports were 4.6 billion cubic meters, or 85.1 percent of the plan.

The volume of liquefied petroleum gas production (provided to the domestic market) was 2.8 million tons, or 98 percent of the planned volume.
