ASTANA, Kazakhstan, January 15. Kazakhstan's airline Air Astana plans to continue expanding its fleet with modern aircraft, a source in the company told Trend.
As the source noted, the airline intends to purchase Airbus A320/321neo and Boeing 787-9 aircraft.
"Air Astana's aircraft fleet consists of modern aircraft of the following types: Boeing 767-300ER, Airbus A320neo/321neo/A321neo LR, Airbus A320ceo/321ceo and Embraer E190-E2," the source said.
According to the source, Air Astana currently has 49 aircraft in its fleet.
Earlier, the source at FlyArystan (subsidiary of Air Astana) airline told Trend that the company plans to purchase new aircraft from Airbus.
As the source noted, today the airline's fleet consists of 18 A320 CEO and A320 NEO aircraft. According to the source, seven of them are new aircraft.
Meanwhile, Air Astana is the largest airline in Kazakhstan, based in Almaty. The Air Astana group of companies also includes the low-cost airline FlyArystan. The airline operates domestic and international regular flights on 64 routes.
The company is a joint venture of the Kazakhstan's Samruk-Kazyna National Welfare Fund (51 percent) and the British company BAE Systems PLC (49 percent).
On May 15, 2002, Air Astana performed its first flight from Almaty to Astana.
