ASTANA, Kazakhstan, March 12. Kazakhstan transported 149.8 million tons of cargo using all forms of transportation from January through February 2024, Trend reports.
According to data from the country's Bureau of National
Statistics, this is 0.5 percent less than in January-February
2023.
At the same time, cargo turnover for the previous quarter totaled
77.8 billion ton-kilometers, 3.2 percent lower than from January
through February 2023.
In addition, regionally, from January through February 2024, a decrease in cargo turnover was observed in the regions of: Zhetysu (13.9 percent), Kostanay (13 percent), East Kazakhstan (11.4 percent), North Kazakhstan (10.5 percent), Abay (8.8 percent), Karaganda (8.1 percent), Akmola (7.8 percent), Ulytau (7.8 percent), Aktobe (6.7 percent), West Kazakhstan (5.2 percent), Pavlodar (3 percent) and Kyzylorda (0.1 percent.
Meanwhile, Kazakhstan has formed a pool of investment projects worth more than $31 billion in the fields of railway and maritime transport, aviation, and roads.
Moreover, in the next five years, at least 40 billion euros will be needed to implement major infrastructure projects in the field of transport in Kazakhstan.
To date, 13 international transport corridors have been formed and operate in Kazakhstan: 5 railway and 8 road.
Furthermore, over the last decade, Kazakhstan's transportation and logistics infrastructure has received approximately $30 billion in investments.
