ASTANA, Kazakhstan, May 28. The Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan is preparing a roadmap and law for the development of the petrochemical industry, said Energy Minister Almassadam Satkaliev during a government meeting, Trend reports.

"The petrochemical industry provides a high multiplier effect-polymer raw materials become the basis for the development of new industries. In this regard, systematic approaches to the development of this industry are required. In June of this year, the Ministry will approve the "Roadmap for the Development of the Petrochemical Industry for 2024–2030," which includes activities ranging from the provision of raw materials to the production of final products," he said.

As the minister noted, in order to stimulate and support the petrochemical industry, the issue of developing a law "On the Petrochemical Industry" is also being considered.

According to Satkaliev, Kazakhstan plans to increase production of petrochemical products by 75 percent in 2024.

"The Ministry is taking a number of measures to increase the workload of existing enterprises, which will ensure the production of 628,300 tons of petrochemical products by the end of the year, or an increase of 75 percent compared to the same period last year (2023–358,700 tons)," he said.

Meanwhile, Kazakhstan produced 90 million tons of oil in 2023, which is 6.9 percent higher than in 2022.

Oil exports also increased and amounted to 70.5 million tons, which is 9.6 percent more than the previous year.

Moreover, Kazakhstan plans to increase oil production in 2024 to 90.3 million tons.
