ASTANA, Kazakhstan, June 7. Kazakhstan, China, and Russia will build a new transport and logistics hub in the Moscow region (Russia) in 2025, Trend reports.

In this regard, an agreement was signed on the development of a transport and logistics center on the territory of the Selyatino station. The agreement was signed by the Chairman of the Board of Samruk-Kazyna (Kazakhstan's Sovereign Wealth Fund), Nurlan Zhakupov, the Governor of the Moscow Region, Andrei Vorobyov, and the Chairman of the Board of Kazakhstan Railways (a national company), Nurlan Sauranbayev.

The Chinese logistics company Xian Free Trade Port Construction and Operation Co., Ltd. will also take part in the project to create the center.

The implementation of this project will provide a number of advantages for the transshipment and processing of cargo, including for Kazakh shippers. The range of services provided in logistics and terminal activities will be expanded, and delivery times will be reduced.

The logistics hub will allow the development of direct transport links between the Kazakh-Chinese terminal in Xi'an, Russia, and other countries.

Meanwhile, the volume of transit cargo transportation by rail through Kazakhstan in the China-Russia direction and back amounted to 3.8 million tons in 2023. This is 35 percent more than in 2022.

At the same time, in the first quarter of 2024, transit traffic in the China-Russia-China direction remains at the 2023 level of 900,000 tons.
