ASTANA, Kazakhstan, June 20. Kazakhstan exported 72,100 tons of ammonium nitrate in the first quarter of 2024, Trend reports.
Thus, the volume of exports compared to the same period last year increased 6.6 times from 11,000 tons.
According to QazIndustry, the growth was achieved due to an increase in demand from Poland three times (from 7,200 to 21,900 tons) and Lithuania by 11.8 times (from 1,600 to 18,900 tons).
The top 3 importers of ammonium nitrate from Kazakhstan are Poland (30 percent), Lithuania (26 percent), and Ukraine (14 percent).
To note, on February 13, KazAzot (a producer of ammonia and ammonium nitrate) exported ammonium nitrate for the first time via the Middle Corridor. The cargo was delivered from the port of Aktau to the port of Hovsan (Azerbaijan), then transshipped at the seaport of Batumi (Georgia) for export to global markets.
In addition, KazAzot plans to ship 50,000 tons of ammonium nitrate along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR) to the port of Batumi in 2024.
The Middle Corridor is a transportation and trade route that connects Asia and Europe, passing through several countries in the region. It is an alternative route to the traditional Northern Corridor and Southern Corridor.
The route starts in China and crosses Central Asian countries such as Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan. It then passes through the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Türkiye before reaching Europe.
The Middle Corridor offers a land route that connects the eastern parts of Asia, including China, with Europe, bypassing the longer maritime routes.
