ASTANA, Kazakhstan, August 9. President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has offered UN General Assembly (UNGA) resolution's passage for achieving sustainable developments goals (SDGs) in Central Asia, Trend reports.

He made the remark during the sixth Consultative Meeting of Central Asian Heads of State in Astana today.

"The Treaty on Friendship, Good Neighborliness, and Cooperation for the Development of Central Asia in the 21st Century gains particular importance. I am convinced that within multilateral structures, primarily through the UN, our states should act based on consolidated approaches. Given the combined potential of our countries, we can make a significant contribution to the implementation of the Sustainable Development Agenda.

To support this important endeavor, I propose initiate the adoption of a UN General Assembly resolution on achieving sustainable development goals in Central Asia in honor of the 80th anniversary of the United Nations. I hope that the participation of the UN High Representative, the esteemed Kaha Imnadze, in our summit will become a good tradition and mark the beginning of closer cooperation between 'Central Asia and the UN,'" Tokayev added.

According to him, one of the ongoing tasks is to lay the groundwork for a strong economic foundation for mutual collaboration.

"Our countries have great potential for expanding mutually beneficial cooperation. Cooperation in the areas of ecology and combating the effects of climate change is of significant importance. We face similar challenges, so it is crucial to enhance interaction, increase coordination, and exchange experiences on climate issues," Tokayev concluded.

To note, high-level discussions within the sixth Consultative Meeting of Central Asian Heads of State are covering current issues of multilateral cooperation and prospects for regional interaction.
