ASTANA, Kazakhstan, October 31. Qatar plans joint cooperation with Kazakhstan to combat various types of crime, Trend reports.

A delegation from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, headed by Minister Yerzhan Sadenov, visited Doha, the capital of Qatar. During this visit, they held talks with Qatar's Minister of Interior, Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad Al Thani.

The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in the fight against crime, including efforts to combat organized crime, drug trafficking, extremism, and cybercrime, as well as collaboration in locating individuals and sharing best practices.

A key outcome of the visit was the signing of an intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in crime prevention, which occurred at the 15th International Security Exhibition “MILIPOL QATAR – 2024.”
This agreement marks a new chapter in Kazakhstan-Qatar relations within the law enforcement sector, establishing a legal basis for closer collaboration and coordinated security efforts.

Today, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev also had a telephone conversation with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, during which both sides expressed their mutual opinion that cooperation between Kazakhstan and Qatar is strategic and mutually beneficial. In addition, the President of Kazakhstan confirmed his participation in the Doha Forum 2024 conference at the invitation of the Emir of Qatar. At the end of the conversation, the interlocutors agreed to continue close contacts between the two countries.
