KyrgyzGas owes over $6 mln to Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan

KyrgyzGas JSC is yet to repay $6.75 million to Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan worth for 2011, KyrTAG quotes KyrgyzGas general director Turgunbek Kulmurzaev as saying.

"We owe $1.55 million to Uzbekistan for natural gas supplies and $5.2 million to Kazakhstan. Moreover, we have not paid off for December, 2011. By the way, January is also nearing to end," Kulmurzaev said in a conference call.

He said the communuty consumer debt exceeds $9 million, while the enterprises also have gas debts, he added.

Kulmurzaev stressed that Kyrgyzstan should repay its debts to neighboring countries, otherwise the situation with gas supply will be "extremely hard" for the country.

According to Kulmurzaev, KyrgyzGas creates a 2 million cubic metres gas reserve each month.

"However, gas reserve decreased to 1.6 million cubic metres in January," Kulmurzaev added.
