A shootout took place on the state border of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan June 29 between the two countries' border detachments, the Kyrgyz border service said.
The border service said in a message that the Kyrgyz border detachment rebuked the Uzbek border guards who were at the time on the state border.
"In response to the Kyrgyz servicemen's demands not to violate the state border and carry out patrol at a certain distance from the state border, the Uzbek border detachment opened fire on the Kyrgyz servicemen," said the message.
The exchange of fire between the two countries' border detachments took place at an undocumented site of their border.
There are no casualties on the Kyrgyz side.
An investigation was launched into the incident.
