BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 21. Kyrgyz imports of tomatoes from Turkmenistan increased from January through November 2022, Trend reports citing the National Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan.
According to statistics, Kyrgyzstan imported 13,668 tons of tomatoes from Turkmenistan in 11 months of 2022, which is an increase of 24.3 percent over the same period in 2021 (10,994 tons).
During the reporting period, the value of Turkmenistan's tomato exports to Kyrgyzstan amounted to $7.6 million. In addition to tomatoes, Turkmenistan also exported electricity, other vegetables, confectionery, fertilizers, and plastic products to Kyrgyzstan.
At the same time, Kyrgyzstan also imported 7,082 tons of tomatoes from Uzbekistan for almost $3.1 million.
Relations between Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan are expressed in the mutual desire of the parties to boost trade and economic cooperation. Kyrgyz-Turkmen mutual trade reached $79.6 million from January through November 2022, which is 2.6 times more compared to the same period in 2021 ($30.5 million).
