BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 3. The total volume of retail deposits in Kyrgyzstan’s commercial banks amounted to 129.5 billion soms ($1.4 billion) by the end of December 2022, Trend reports with reference to the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan.

The figure increased by 13.9 percent over 113.7 billion soms ($1.3 billion) in the same period of 2021.

According to the bank, the current account deposits totaled 4.1 billion soms ($46.9 million) in the reporting period, increasing by 1.4 times over 2.9 billion ($33 million) at the end of December 2021.

Reportedly, the value of the demand deposits amounted to 65 billion soms ($743 million) by the end of December 2022, which is an increase of 1.2 times compared to the same month of 2021.

Meanwhile, the value of the fixed-term deposits reached 60.3 billion soms ($689 million) in the reporting period, which is a slight increase from 56.2 billion soms ($642 million) at the end of December 2021.

The total volume of customer deposits in Kyrgyzstan’s banks amounted to 339 billion soms ($3.8 billion) as of 31 December 2022.

According to the bank, the value of the deposits increased by 39.5 percent over 242.9 billion soms ($2.7 billion) in the same period of 2021.
