BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 26. Korea Overseas Infrastructure and Urban Development Corporation (KIND) has developed a draft master plan for the construction of a smart city in the Issyk-Kul region of Kyrgyzstan, Trend reports citing the Ministry of Economy of Kyrgyzstan.
The master plan was presented following the meeting of Deputy Minister of Economy of Kyrgyzstan Kanat Abdrakhmanov with a South Korean delegation, headed by Gichul Jeong, Vice President of KIND, in Bishkek, on April 25.
The South Korean delegation visited Kyrgyzstan to conduct final consultations and present a preliminary feasibility study of the Smart City in Issyk-Kul project, the implementation of which was discussed by the representatives of the two countries.
Kyrgyzstan’s minister said it is necessary to further promote the project and attract funding for the construction of a smart city in the Issyk-Kul region.
According to the ministry, Kyrgyzstan sets goals for a smooth transition to a green economy model and carbon neutrality, and smart cities are an important aspect of this transition.
The project is being implemented as part of the global cooperation program (K-City Network), aiming to build an environmentally friendly city that minimizes the environmental impact of the development of an energy-independent city using renewable energy sources.
K-City Network program aims to foster smart city cooperation between South Korea and other countries.
