BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 8. The volume of remittances inflow to Kyrgyzstan in February 2023 amounted to $151.4 million, which is an increase of 3.2 percent compared to January 2023 ($146.7 million), Trend reports via National Bank of Kyrgyzstan.
At the same time, in comparison with February 2022 ($187.6 million), the figure decreased by 19.2 percent.
During the period under review, Russia ranked first among the main countries in terms of money inflow to Kyrgyzstan with $137.3 million, which is 4.4 percent more than in January 2023 ($131.5 million). Meanwhile, the amount of remittances flow from Russia decreased by 24.6 percent year-on-year compared to $182.1 million in the same period of 2022.
Russia was followed by Kazakhstan with an amount of $4.8 million sent to Kyrgyzstan in February 2023, which is an increase of 37.1 percent compared to $3.5 million in January 2023. Meanwhile, compared to corresponding month of 2022, the figure increased from $300,000 to $4.8 million.
Overall, $142.2 million were sent to Kyrgyzstan from the countries of CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) and $9.2 million from other countries in February 2023.
