BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 8. The volume of money transferred from Kyrgyzstan to the countries of CIS (the Commonwealth of Independent States) in February 2023 amounted to $34.5 million, which is an increase of 24 percent compared to January 2023 ($27.7 million), Trend reports via National Bank of Kyrgyzstan.
At the same time, in comparison with $40.4 million in February 2022, the figure decreased by 14.6 percent.
The largest amount of remittances in the specified period was sent from Kyrgyzstan to Russia – $34.3 million, which is an increase of 26 percent compared to January 2023 ($27.2 million), and a decrease of 13 percent year-on-year ($39.5 million in February 2022).
Additionally, some $200,000 was sent from Kyrgyzstan to Kazakhstan in February 2023. The figure decreased by 33 percent compared to January 2023 ($300,000) and by 60 percent year-on-year ($500,000 in February 2022).
Overall, a volume of money transferred from Kyrgyzstan in February 2023 amounted to $49,500, which is 14 percent less than in January 2023 ($57.9 million). Meanwhile, in comparison with February 2022, the figure rose by 20 percent.
