BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, October 17. Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, Bakyt Torobaev, laid the foundation for the country's first production plant for gold bars, located in the city of Kara-Balta in the Chuy region, Trend reports.

The facility, covering an area of 1,500 square meters, is scheduled to be operational in the first quarter of 2024. The construction of the building will be financed using the resources of the Kyrgyzaltyn company - Kyrgyzstan's national enterprise engaged in the development of gold deposits.

Torobaev emphasized the significant importance of this project for the country. He said that its implementation will create favorable conditions for the development of the domestic precious metal market and an increase in the turnover of precious metals.

Furthermore, there are plans to manufacture coins, commemorative coins, medals, and orders of various sizes at this facility. Advanced modern technologies from Italy and Germany are intended for the production of gold bars.

One of the largest gold mine in Central Asia, the Kumtor gold mine in Kyrgyzstan, produced over 5.5 tons of precious metals, including gold, silver, and platinum, from January through June 2023.
