Consumer prices and tariffs increase in Kyrgyzstan

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, November 11. Consumer prices and tariffs in Kyrgyzstan increased by 6.7 percent from January through October 2023, compared to the end of 2022, Trend reports.

Data from the National Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan reveals that during this period, prices for alcoholic beverages and tobacco products increased by 10.4 percent compared to the end of 2022. The prices for non-food items saw an 11.1 percent increase, and food products and non-alcoholic beverages went up by 3.2 percent. Service tariffs provided to the public also saw an 8.1 percent increase.

Notably, prices surged for specific items during this period, with rice rising by 39.8 percent, fresh fruits by 21.2 percent, confectionery by 8.8 percent, fish by 8.4 percent, pasta and other grain products by 7.2 percent, bread by 7.1 percent, non-alcoholic beverages by 6 percent, baked goods by 5.7 percent, potatoes by 5.2 percent, dairy products by 4.3 percent, flour by 3 percent, meat by 2.7 percent, and cheese by 2.6 percent.

The increase in consumer prices and tariffs from January through October of this year compared to December of the previous year was observed across all regions of the country. The highest price increase (12.2 percent) was recorded in the Naryn region.
