Kyrgyzstan ramps up passenger car imports from Germany

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, February 19. Kyrgyzstan noted a considerable increase in its import of passenger cars from Germany in 2023, Trend reports.

Data from Kyrgyzstan’s State Statistical Committee shows that the country imported 6,615 cars from Germany during the year, which is a fivefold increase compared to the 1,313 cars imported in 2022.

The value of these imports totaled $271.866 million in 2023, which is a 4.1-fold increase year-on-year from $65.856 million in 2022.

In terms of overall car imports to Kyrgyzstan, China led with 79,131 cars worth $1.197 billion, followed by South Korea with 50,397 cars valued at $434.868 million. Russia completed the top three leaders, exporting 14,437 passenger cars to Kyrgyzstan, valued at $143.084 million.

In total, Kyrgyzstan imported 184,789 passenger cars in 2023, which is a 4.4-times increase compared to 2022 (41,241 cars). The total value of imports reached $2.766 billion, a 5.1-times rise from $538.852 million in 2022.

Kyrgyzstan's foreign trade turnover reached $15.660 billion in 2023, which is a 29.9 percent increase compared to 2022 ($12.057 billion). The country's exports totaled $3.308 billion, rising by 46.8 percent year-on-year ($2.254 billion in 2022). Imports to Kyrgyzstan amounted to $12.352 billion, which is 26 percent higher than $9.803 billion in 2022.
