BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, March 5. Visa cards in circulation in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, amounted to 2,406,783 as of December 31, 2023, which is an increase of 62.5 percent compared to the 1,480,822 at the end of 2022, Trend reports.
According to the data from the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek accounted for 74 percent of the total Visa cards circulating in Kyrgyzstan by the reporting date. The capital's share in the nationwide circulation of all payment cards reached 50.9 percent by the end of 2023.
The total number of Visa payment cards circulating throughout Kyrgyzstan reached 3.249 million by the end of 2023, comprising 47.2 percent of the country's total card circulation. This figure increased by 58.7 percent compared to the same period in 2022, when it stood at 2.046 million.
The share of Visa cards within Kyrgyzstan's total bank card circulation expanded from 39.1 percent at the end of 2022 to 47.2 percent by December 2023.
Overall, the number of bank payment cards circulating in Kyrgyzstan surpassed 6.89 million by December 31, 2023, reflecting a robust growth trajectory in the country's financial landscape.
