BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, April 6. The Kyrgyz-Uzbek Development Fund implemented 17 big projects from 2022 through 2023, creating over 2,500 jobs, Trend reports.

According to the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, the statement came during a meeting of the Investment Council chaired by Cabinet Chairman Akylbek Japarov.

It was noted that for the year 2024, the Kyrgyz-Uzbek Development Fund plans to increase the number of projects. Furthermore, the Kyrgyz-Russian Development Fund is implementing 32 investment projects this year. The Kyrgyz-Hungarian Development Fund is also stepping up its activities, with a special focus on the energy sector.

Japarov urged the development funds and state banks to actively support projects aimed at developing Kyrgyzstan's economy. He emphasized that the heads of development funds and state banks are obliged to attract new investments into the country and implement new standards.

"Each of you works on projects in different sectors, but collectively, you can effectively address the challenges faced by individual sectors. For instance, by funding projects for poultry meat production, we can alleviate issues in this sector and reduce import volumes," said Japarov.

It was noted that the Investment Council plans to hold its meetings in all regions of the country to hear citizens' project proposals.

The Uzbek-Kyrgyz Development Fund was established and operates in accordance with the agreement signed on March 11, 2021. The fund is established to promote economic cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, modernize and develop the economy of Kyrgyzstan, and efficiently utilize the opportunities of bilateral cooperation.
