BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, September 9. Kyrgyzstan has launched two new small hydropower plants to mark the centenary of the Kara-Kyrgyz Autonomous Region, Trend reports.

According to the country’s Energy Ministry, the Isfayram small hydropower plant, located in the Kadamjay district of the Batken region, has been put into operation. Builtby Ak-Buura Group, the plant has a total capacity of 4 MW and produces 3.5 million kWh of electricity. The investment in the project amounted to $3 million.

Additionally, the Kurak-Tekir small hydropower plant, implemented by Kara Koy Jarygy comapny, has started operations in the Nookat district of the Osh region. This plant has a capacity of 0.6 MW and generates 34.56 million kWh of electricity. The investment for this project was $600,000.

Today, the Energy Ministry has commissioned a total of seven facilities. As part of the centenary celebrations, Kyrgyzstan plans to launch 100 new industrial and social projects across the country.
