Tajikistan’s oil products import exceeds country’s cotton-fibre export twice

Tajikistan's import of oil products exceeds the country's cotton-fibre export by 2.5 times, Avesta.Tj quotes Tajik Customs service as saying, KyrTAG reported.

According to the report, Tajikistan exported cotton-fibre to the amount of $152 mln in January-October of 2011, while the import figures amounted to $393.4 mln. The import volumes hit 390,000 tons.

Tajikistan's oil products import comes mainly from Russia, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan. Russia's share in Tajikistan's oil products import amounts to 90 percent.

Tajikistan's cotton-fibre export decreased by 0.5 percent in January-October of 2011 as compared to the same period of 2010. The country exported cotton-fibre mainly to Turkey, Iran and Latvia.

According to the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan, the gasoline price on the country's domestic market increased by 40 percent in the first half of 2011.
