Tajik President Emomali Rahmon today received UN Resident Coordinator and United Nations Development Programme Representative in Tajikistan, Alexander Zuev in Dushanbe, Avesta reported.
As the Tajik presidential press service reported, during the meeting it was agreed the UN conducts the most active work in the CIS space mainly in Tajikistan.
With the support of 22 institutions and UN agencies, today projects in the spheres of education, health, agriculture, rural development and water supply are being implemented in Tajikistan.
The sides paid particular attention to cooperation in health which led to a decrease in child mortality, especially among infants and infectious diseases.
Also according to the sides, interaction in the clearance of Tajik of mines and other explosives is important. To date, 85 per cent of the country's territories have been cleared of mines and other explosives.
The sides also touched upon the preparation of the high level international conference on global water issues which will be held in Dushanbe in August 2013 under the patronage of the UN.
