BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 30. The number of visitors from Tajikistan traveling to Uzbekistan amounted to 289,200 people from January through February 2023, Trend reports via the Uzbek State Statistics Committee.
According to the statistics, 139,600 tourists from Tajikistan visited Uzbekistan in January, and 149,600 in February 2023.
Thus, Tajikistan ranked first among the main countries of origin for people arriving in Uzbekistan in the reporting period.
Among the largest countries that citizens visited Uzbekistan in the first two months of 2023 are Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Türkiye, Turkmenistan, South Korea, and others.
A total of 871,000 foreign citizens visited Uzbekistan for tourism purposes from January through February 2023.
At the same time, according to the Tourism Development Committee of Tajikistan, the tourists arriving from Uzbekistan accounted for almost 70 percent of Tajikistan’s total tourist inflow in 2022.
The number of tourists from Uzbekistan visiting Tajikistan last year amounted to 690,000 people.
In general, 999,300 tourists visited Tajikistan in 2022, which is 703,000 tourists more than in 2021.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Tourism Development Committee of Tajikistan, Kamaliddin Muminzoda, said that 100 objects of tourist infrastructure were built and put into operation in the country last year. And, in total, 600 objects of tourist infrastructure have been put into service over the past five years.
