BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 12. Tajikistan’s current account balance is expected at -1.9 percent of the GDP in 2023, Trend reports, citing the World Economic Outlook from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

The forecast for 2023 has been revised downward from October’s report (0.0 percent of the GDP).

The IMF analytics predict Tajikistan’s current account balance at -2.4 percent of the GDP in 2024, and -2.9 percent in 2028, while the outlook of October 2022 forecasted a current account balance at -2.8 percent of the GDP in 2027.

IMF estimates Tajikistan’s current account balance at 6.2 percent in 2022, and 8.2 percent in 2021.

Meanwhile, the World Bank (WB) forecasts Tajikistan’s current account balance at -1.5 percent of the GDP in 2023.

According to WB’s experts, the current account balance of Tajikistan will stand at -1.8 percent of the GDP in 2024, and -2.3 percent in 2026.
