Tajikistan’s Spitamen district harvests wheat from 3,000 hectares

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 20. A total of 3,643 hectares of land were sown with wheat in Tajikistan’s Spitamen district of the Sughd region since the beginning of 2023, Trend reports.

At the moment, the harvest from 3,000 hectares has already been collected in the district. In addition, the district has also allocated 5,800 hectares for cotton cultivation.

After collecting the wheat harvest, farmers of the region are engaging in reseeding activities on utilized lands.

Chairman of the Sugd region of Tajikistan Rajabboy Ahmadzoda, after inspecting the progress of field operations in the district, has instructed the responsible authorities to conduct timely reseeding operations and maximize land utilization for optimal productivity.

Meanwhile, the value of the agricultural production in Tajikistan amounted to 49.3 billion somoni ($4.8 billion) in 2022, which is an 8-percent rise compared to 2021.

During the last year, Tajikistan's crop production totaled 33.9 billion somoni ($3.3 billion), and livestock products made up 15.4 billion somoni ($1.5 billion).

In the volume of production of agricultural products, the share of crop production was 68.8 percent and livestock production was 31.2 percent.
