BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 23. Russian companies plan to build two enterprises in Tajikistan's Free Economic Zones (FEZ) in Kulyab and Sughd regions, Islam Nazaraliev, the Chairman of the Russian-Tajik Business Council said, Trend reports.
A few respective agreements have been signed between Russian companies and Tajikistan's FEZs. One of the agreements involves the construction of a cellulose ether production plant and has been signed between FEZ Sughd and the Russian Laboratoriya Ognezashchity (Fire Protection Laboratory) company.
Additionally, another agreement has been signed between FEZ Kulyab, the Russian company Preneoly and the Tajik company Rastani Inno, which will focus on the cultivation and processing of medicinal plants in Tajikistan.
Nazaraliev further mentioned that a memorandum of understanding and cooperation has been signed between the Russian Net Solutions company and Tajikistan’s Business Council for the Development of Digital Projects.
He emphasized that the total investment volume required for the three projects undertaken by Russian companies exceeds 2.5 billion rubles ($29.8 million).
In addition, Nazaraliev announced the establishment of a scientific-expert body within the Business Council, which will be led by Igor Sheremet, an academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS). This body comprises five academicians and one corresponding member of the RAS.
