DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, August 16. The gross domestic product (GDP) of Tajikistan reached 54.2 billion somoni ($4.9 billion), with a growth rate of 8.3 percent from January through June 2023, the Minister of Finance of Tajikistan, Fayziddin Kakhkhorzoda, said during a press conference, Trend reports.
The Minister added that this development during the period was primarily driven by industrial production, freight turnover, passenger transportation, the agriculture sector, the construction sector, trade turnover, and the service sector.
It was highlighted that the volume of foreign trade turnover for the first half of 2023 amounted to $3.415 billion, which is $98.1 million lower than the same period of the previous year.
During the reporting period, goods and products worth $678.6 million were exported from the country, while goods and products worth $2.736 billion were imported into the country.
According to the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan, the GDP growth of Tajikistan in 2022 amounted to 8 percent.
