Belarus, Tajikistan sign documents on trade and economic co-op

DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, October 2. Representatives from the business circles of Belarus and Tajikistan signed 13 contracts worth over $16 million following a meeting of the intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation, Trend reports.

During the meeting, the parties discussed cooperation in agriculture, industry, food supply, and the training of personnel for the agro-industrial complex. The meeting was chaired by Tajikistan's Minister of Agriculture, Kurbon Hakimzoda, and Belarus' Minister of Agriculture and Food, Sergei Bartosh.

Both sides noted the positive dynamics in the development of Tajik-Belarusian business relations and expressed their mutual interest in expanding the partnership.

They also pointed out that they are ready to support the establishment and deepening of cooperation between business circles through trade and industry chambers, government bodies, and diplomatic missions.

The trade turnover between the two countries increased by 62.4 percent from January through July 2023 compared to the same period in 2022. Tajikistan's exports to Belarus amounted to $4 million, while Belarus' exports to Tajikistan reached $50.9 million during the period.
