DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, April 18. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has adjusted its forecast for Tajikistan's current account deficit in 2024 to 2.1 percent of the GDP, Trend reports.
This is a little improvement over their prior projection in
October, which anticipated the deficit to be 2.4 percent of GDP.
Looking ahead to 2025, the IMF expects the deficit to be 2.2
percent of GDP.
In contrast, the World Bank (WB) expects that this country's
current account surplus will reach 3.5 percent of GDP by 2024.
According to the World Bank's most recent projections, the
country's current account surplus will fall to three percent in
2025 and then to 2.4 percent in 2026.
While the World Bank reports a current account surplus of 5.7
percent of GDP in 2023, the IMF estimated a loss of 0.7 percent
last year.
The nation's gross international reserves were $3.6 billion at the
end of 2023, down slightly from $3.8 billion at the end of
2022.
