The composition of the joint intergovernmental Turkmen-Iranian commission for economic cooperation from the Turkmen side has been approved, an official Turkmen source said on Wednesday.
According to the decree signed by the Turkmen president, Rashid Meredov, deputy chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Foreign Minister has been appointed as its head.
Turkmenistan jointly with Iran has implemented such large scale projects as the construction of the Dostluk reservoir, the Tejan-Sarakhs-Mashad railroad and interstate gas pipelines and power lines.
At this stage, the implementation of the major rail North-South project is underway in which Kazakhstan is also involved. Construction of the railway bed is being conducted with the financial support of the Asian Development Bank and Islamic Development Bank.
The parties are also negotiating to increase energy resource supplies from Turkmenistan.
