An international working meeting to promote the development of Afghanistan with the involvement of neighbouring countries, international organisations and potential donors is being held in Afghanistan, the official Turkmen source said.
Ashgabat previously announced a number of initiatives for the socio-economic recovery of a neighbouring state which has been positively assessed by the UN and the OSCE.
In particular, work on the construction of the Atamyrat-Imamnazar-Akin-Andkhoy (Turkmenistan-Afghanistan) railway is underway. In addition, a project aimed at a five-fold increase in the volume of exporting Turkmen electricity to Afghanistan, which is now available on favourable terms to an annual volume of 325 million kilowatt-hours has been launched.
The largest project is the construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline where an international consortium is being formed.
