The complex of oil refineries in Turkmenbashi, which is a major industrial enterprise of the national economy, has processed 6, 535 million tons of crude oil in 2012, Turkmen Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources reported.
Some 1.760 million tons of gasoline and 2.34 million tons of diesel fuel were produced. Compared with 2011, these figures indicate that gasoline production increased by 44,000 tons, whereas diesel fuel production grew by 52,000 tons.
In addition, production of propylene, liquefied natural gas, construction and road bitumen, coke and lubricants was increased.
Turkmenistan plans to increase its oil refining capacity to 15 million tons per year by 2015, up to 20 million tons in 2020, up to 22 million tons in 2025 and in up to 30 million tons in 2030.
At this stage, the country annually produces about 10 million tons of oil, most of which is processed at local refineries.
