During a telephone conversation, Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadev and President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko discussed the implementation of joint projects concretizing key directions of intergovernmental partnership, the Turkmen government said on Thursday.

The largest of the joint projects is the construction of an ore-dressing complex for the production of potash fertilizer in Lebap province located on the base of the potash rich Garlyk deposit - one of the largest in the world.

As the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper reported on Thursday, JSC Belgorkhimprom is the general contractor of the project. The project cost is estimated at more than $1 billion and has a capacity of 1,400 million tons per year.

Presently, construction and installation, as well as design work is underway.

The establishment of major industrial production is one more step to turning Turkmenistan into a developed industrial country, the article says.

The government report also says that Berdimuhammadov invited the President of Belarus to visit Turkmenistan at any convenient time.

The invitation was accepted with gratitude. The date of the visit will be coordinated through diplomatic channels.
