The issue of holding another meeting of the Council of Heads of Governments of the CIS countries in Ashgabat on November 21 was discussed during a meeting with the First Deputy Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee Vladimir Garkun at the Turkmen foreign ministry, the country's government said Oct. 16.
"In particular, as part of the meeting, the sides discussed the agenda issues of the conciliation commission meeting with participation of the permanent representatives of the CIS member-states, as well as holding the bilateral meetings at the highest level," the report says.
The Council of Heads of Governments of the CIS countries resolves such issues as the adoption of joint development programs for industry, agriculture and other sectors of the economy and their financing; cooperation in tariff, credit-fiscal and tax policy; aspects of interaction in the transport, communications, energy systems and others.
The Council of Heads of Governments meets twice a year. The extraordinary meetings may be convened at the initiative of the government of one of the member-state.
While referring to the permanent neutrality status, recognized and supported by the United Nations, Ashgabat made a decision on its participation in the CIS Council as an associate member in 2005.
Turkmenistan chaired the CIS in 2012 and held about 30 events.
