Turkmenistan’s GDP increases

Turkmenistan's GDP increased by 7.1 percent in January-November 2015, the Turkmen economy and development ministry said.

The GDP growth in the industrial sector amounted to 2.6 percent, construction - 10.1 percent, transport and communication complex - 10.2 percent, trade - 11.1 percent, agriculture - 10.4 percent, services - 11 percent, the statement said.

The production growth rate amounted to 5.4 percent in Turkmenistan compared to the same period of last year.

The retail trade turnover volume increased by 18.2 percent in Turkmenistan for eleven months of this year compared to the same period of 2014, the statement said.

The average monthly salary in large and medium enterprises of the country has increased by 9.5 percent, compared with the same period last year.

Turkmenistan ranks fourth in the world's natural gas reserves. At present, it exports gas to China, Iran and Russia, according to a British Petroleum (BP) report.

Ashgabat chose a course to diversify the local economy. The textile industry, as well as the area of petroleum products, advanced. The oil, gas and chemical industry and the production of building materials are being actively developed.
