Malaysian company Petronas Carigali will soon start drilling the first well on the field 'Garagol Deniz West' located in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea, the ministry of oil and gas of Turkmenistan said in a message.

"Development of another promising section of the contract area will begin, which promises a significant increase in production of hydrocarbon raw materials within the framework of the project," the message said.

Construction of a pipeline from the field 'Garagol Deniz West' till the gas treatment plant and ground gas terminal located on the sea coast is currently nearing completion.

The main investments to the project in 2016 will be spent on drilling of exploitation wells, construction of production platforms, as well as the implementation of project of the Garagol Deniz West field development, according to the message.

Petronas Carigali company is one of the first partners of Turkmenistan for the development of offshore fields in the Caspian Sea.
