Some 2.234 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity were produced in Turkmenistan since the beginning of 2017, the Turkmen government said in a message.
“The energy production grew 107.4 percent compared to the same period of 2016,” said the message.
Turkmenistan plans to produce 27.4 billion kilowatt-hours of energy by 2020.
Currently, the work is underway to increase electricity export to Afghanistan and Iran. The possibility of energy export to Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Pakistan and the Caucasus region is being studied.
The concept of development of Turkmen power industry for 2013-2020 envisages construction of 14 gas turbine power plants, power transmission systems and distribution stations.
