Ukraine’s Azovmash joint-stock company has obtained an order to manufacture 20 tank cars for transportation of sulfuric acid for Turkmenistan, Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper reported Dec. 19.
The products are intended for the Turkmenabat chemical plant. Twenty tank cars must be manufactured within three months. The corresponding tender was conducted by Turkmenhimiya state chemical concern.
Meanwhile, the production of 500,000 tons of sulfuric acid per year was put into operation at the chemical plant in Turkmenabat city, Lebap region in July 2016.
The project was implemented by a consortium consisting of Japanese Mitsui company and Turkish Ronesans Holding. The project was partially financed through a loan from the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC).
Sulfuric acid is an important component in the production of mineral phosphorus fertilizers. This chemical product is also used in the production of other acids and salts, medicines and detergents, dyes, artificial fibers.
The main importers of sulfuric acid are China, Chile and the countries of the Asia-Pacific region, including Australia and India.
