A number of highways of international importance namely, Turkmenbashi – Ashgabat – Mary -Turkmenabat – Farab – Uzbekistan’s state border; Ashgabat-Dashoguz; Ashgabat-Gaudan; Turkmenbashi - Bekdash and Serdar - Gudriolum, pass through Turkmenistan, the Turkmen State Institute of Economics and Management said in a message.
"The transport, trade and political importance of those highways for Turkmenistan is constantly growing,” the message said. “The export of hydrocarbons and finished products is constantly growing from Turkmenistan to the European and Asian countries. For this purpose, there are 13 border crossing points with all neighboring countries for crossing the border from the North to the South, from the West to the East, as well as from the North-East and to the South-West."
An increasing flow of vehicles, as well as the improvement of methods of customs and tax governance (electronic customs declaration, single-window systems, the introduction of card technologies), the development of new ones and the introduction of changes and additions to the existing regulatory and legal acts contribute to minimizing the time for border control.
Turkmenistan borders Kazakhstan, Iran, Uzbekistan and Afghanistan onshore, while Azerbaijan and Russia offshore.
