Next meeting of CIS Economic Council to be held in Ashgabat

The next meeting of the CIS Economic Council will be held Sept. 13 in Ashgabat, Trend reports with reference to the Turkmen government June 27.

Turkmenistan is chairing the CIS this year.

Turkmen Deputy Prime Minister Gochmyrat Myradov reported at a government meeting on the participation of the Turkmen delegation at this meeting held June 21 in Minsk, the Turkmenistan State News Agency reported.

According to the CIS Executive Committee, a draft agreement on free trade in services and various aspects of conducting the work on international comparisons in the CIS countries based on the purchasing power parity of currencies were discussed in Minsk.

In addition, the CIS Economic Council approved and submitted to the Council of CIS Heads of Government a draft decision on the main areas of activity of anti-monopoly authorities of the CIS member states.

Earlier it was reported that the meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of Government will be held in the Turkmen capital Oct. 11, 2019.

Turkmenistan, referring to its status of permanent neutrality, decided to participate in the CIS as an associate member in 2005. In 1999, Turkmenistan withdrew from the agreement on visa-free regime with the CIS countries.
