Turkmenistan’s Turkmengeology begins to study clay deposits in Koytendag district

Turkmenistan’s Turkmengeology State Corporation is starting to study clay deposits (opoka) in the territory of the Koytendag district of the Lebap region, Trend reports with reference to Nebit-Gaz electronic newspaper.

Opoka is a valuable raw material in the production of bricks, tiles, cement, and other building materials.

In recent years, a number of industrial enterprises for the production of building materials have been put into operation in this region. One of these facilities is the Lebap Cement Plant with a production capacity of 1 million tons of cement per year.

Currently, the main activity of the enterprise is focused on the search for underground water, the clarification of their reserves, as well as the operation of wells in order to provide sufficient water to the settlements of the Lebap region, the report said.

As reported, Turkmennebitgazgozleg trust of Turkmenistan’s Turkmengeology State Corporation has started drilling well No.5 at Agarguyi site, located near the Malai field.

The design depth of the well is 3,300 meters.
